BRBN learn about M.T.D.

As we start April networking with a physical meeting, members enjoy a meeting before the Bank Holiday Weekend, we are brought up to date with a very informative 10 minute slot by Lynne Auton representing Finnies and Stipendia.

This week Lynne took the 10-minute networking slot, a short, focused opportunity to build professional connections quickly. In this time, Lynne introduced herself and went through her journey to be in the position she is today. Lynne delivered key information about the businesses and the added value they offer as a Chartered Certified Accountants.

Lynne presented on the topic, Making Tax Digital (MTD) a government initiative designed to modernise the tax system. It requires businesses and individuals to keep digital records and submit tax returns using compatible software. Recent changes have expanded MTD for Income Tax, affecting more self-employed people and landlords. The aim is to improve accuracy, reduce errors, and make tax administration more efficient and transparent for both taxpayers and HMRC.

Following an excellent presentation, BRBN moved with the usual 45 second slot, Education slot and referrals around the members. Not forgetting the usual breakfast enjoyed by the BRBN members.

Members were reminded of the Open meeting on the 30th April, an opportunity to invite a variety of guests.

Next meeting is a virtual meeting 9th April 2026. 7.45am start, finishing at 9am.
