The power of networking. The impact of friendship: how good relationships in business and life are vital.
07/12/2021

As we enter December, meetings continue to alternate between an online and in-person format, and both have their own significant advantages. This week, members met on Zoom; the host was business author, mentor and coach, John Olivant.
Beverley Referral Network meetings are always upbeat with a buoyant atmosphere, and this week’s meeting was no exception. There was a lot of personal good news from the group and professional success stories of new clients, businesses providing excellent service to their customers, and companies progressing well despite current circumstances and the difficulties faced over the past two years.
During the initial round of member introductions, the power of networking came to the fore. We never know where networking will lead, who we will meet, and what impact this will have on business.
Kevin Sinfield was the subject of the education slot. By the end of his 101-mile, 24-hour run, Kevin had raised £1.4 million. At the time of the meeting, that amount had increased to £1.82 million. Kevin will donate the money to Leeds Hospitals Charity and the MND Association with his friend and former teammate Rob Burrow (who lives with Motor Neurone Disease) in mind. With the right mindset and a firm goal, what we can achieve for our friends and colleagues is astounding. BRBN member and venue host Allen Slinger, raised thousands of pounds for the charity when he walked from Hull KR to Headingly.
Before the final round of referrals and thanks, members enjoyed a short 1-2-1 session in breakout rooms. It was an excellent chance to discover more about each other and their businesses and is always a worthwhile exercise.
